1. How long does it take to complete the program?
LPN is an intensive 18-month program delivered in-person part-time in the evening and on weekends.
2. Is this a credit program?
No, LPN is a non-credit program authorized by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. In addition to preparing you for a position in the field, LPN readies you for the exam required by many employers to work as a nurse.
3. How do I qualify to apply for the program?
All candidates must first take the TEAS V exam, a standardized pre-nursing exam which determines your core skills. Providing you achieve the Penn State Lehigh Valley benchmark score, you will be invited to interview with the program nursing faculty and staff.

5. Are there prerequisites, and can I transfer credits earned elsewhere?
The program is a non-credit “clock hour program,” meaning all coursework completed is recorded in hours and must be logged through attendance in the Penn State Lehigh Valley Practical Nursing program. There are no prerequisites. Anatomy and Physiology I and II may be considered for transfer into the program.
6. What is the class schedule?
Students will attend a combination of 25 hours of lectures and clinicals per week. Classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Clinicals are held every other Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
7. Is the COVID vaccination mandatory?
Clinical experiences at different sites within the community help student achieve the outcomes of the program. All clinical sites have mandatory COIVD vaccine requirements. Therefore, in order to meet the outcomes and be successful in the program, the COVID vaccine is needed before beginning the program.
